Can Your Mind Produce a Revolution?
Let's suppose you heard, "There is nothing you cannot do if you put your mind to it!"
Most people would say, "Well ... that's hyperbole. That's like Jesus saying we can move mountains."
To which Jesus might reply, "No, not hyperbole. I do not exaggerate to make a point. I speak truth. Your mind is infinitely creative. How do you think I work miracles? And my mind is not different than yours. Didn't I insist you could move mountains?"
For verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (Matthew 17:20)
"Yes, but.... Well...."
Well ... hell. Do you believe Jesus speaks truth, or not? Your "well..." reflects unbelief and leaves you in hell, rather than allowing you to experience heaven. Yet you can be in heaven right here on earth if you put your mind to it. And you can also help mankind's evolution, or if needed "revolution," producing earthly conditions much closer to heavenly conditions for everyone ... if you put your mind to it.
For example, you can literally create right here on earth a political system in which everyone is at peace ... no voting to justify some ruling over others, no legislatures to invent insane man-made laws, no taxation to rob people's rightful earnings to pay for things they wouldn't pay for voluntarily. You can create finally a free and peaceful political system ... if you put your mind to it. Of course you have to put your mind to it with faith ... which is the certainty that God sets all things right.
Yet has God's Judgment on this distorted world redeemed it and made it fit to welcome peace. And peace descends on it in joyous answer. Peace now belongs here, because a Thought of God has entered. What else but a Thought of God turns hell to Heaven merely by being what it is? (ACIM Teacher's Manual)
The above quote was copied from Jesus Christ's revelation to mankind for the 21st Century, A Course in Miracles. If you were to look around the world at the insanity of modern political leadership, you might be tempted to fear that the world is on the verge of being reduced to the run down, overrun with weeds, remains of Wrigley Field as depicted in the popular television series "Revolution," subject to the brutal force of militia-gang leaders. But your inner spiritual voice would quickly remind you that Jesus has given us A Course in Miracles at this time in mankind's history precisely to head off such conditions of potential misery.
In A Course in Miracles, Jesus repeatedly points out that you are the producer of your world ... that your mind is not different than his mind which worked miracles, and is every bit as powerful:
There is nothing about me that you cannot attain. I have nothing that does not come from God. The main difference between us as yet is that I have NOTHING ELSE. This leaves me in a state of true holiness, which is only a POTENTIAL in you. “No man cometh to the Father but by me” is among the most misunderstood statements in the Bible. It DOES NOT mean that I am in anyway separate (or different) from you, EXCEPT IN TIME. Now, we know that time does not exist. (ACIM Chap. 1)
I have made it perfectly clear that I am like you, and you are like me. But our fundamental equality can be demonstrated only through joint decision. (ACIM Chap. 6)
Jesus emphasizes "joint decision" not so you will run out and inhale a toke of focus-altering weed like marijuana, but exactly the opposite ... until now you have been afraid of the true power of your mind becoming intensely focused, afraid of what your thoughts would create if left to your own devices.
While expressions like “think big” give some recognition to the power of thought, they still come nowhere near the truth. It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power-surge that can literally move mountains. It appears at first glance that to believe such power about yourself is merely arrogant, but that is not the real reason why you don’t believe it. People prefer to believe that their thoughts cannot exert real control because they are literally AFRAID of them. (ACIM Chap. 2)
So yes, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to accomplish, especially if your mind is joined with the mind of Jesus (which means you are hearing the still small voice of your holy spirit). Exactly what you are to produce in this world, your particular path, will be revealed to you. [The example used above was not far-fetched. There are those whose guidance is having them participate in the production of a Restored U.S. Constitution for a political system without voting, legislatures, or taxation.]
Whatever it is you are to accomplish, there is one thought you must always hold foremost in mind, and never for a moment doubt:
